Want to set up a nature programme, forest school programme or bush school but aren’t sure what to do to make it happen? Or not sure if what you are already doing is on the right track?
Then, this is the nature education training you have been looking for!
This is the original New Zealand version of Forest School Training, developed right here in Aotearoa.
This weekend workshop held in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, will give you the skills and the confidence to teach tamariki in te taiao in on-site or excursion programmes in New Zealand (sometimes called Bush Kindy, Nature School or Forest School).
This workshop has been designed specifically for New Zealand ECE and primary teachers and covers everything you need to get started including:
- What is nature education in a New Zealand Context
- Day to Day Planning
- Risk Management and Health and Safety
- Group Management
- Role of the Teacher and Tamariki
- Curriculum linking (Te Whāriki and NZ Curriculum)
- Tikanga and te ao Māori
- Practical skills including Fire, Knives, Knots and Hut Building/Shelters, nature crafts, nature activities tool kit
Location: 36 Cowlishaw Street, Avonside, Christchurch

9am - 5pm Saturday 21st September
9am-3.30pm Sunday 22nd September
All day refreshments, morning and afternoon tea provided. Please bring own lunch.
