Auckland Sports College has submitted a draft application for registration as a single-sex (boys) designated character school (Y11–15) opening for term 1, 2025. If established it is likely that we will seek to transition to a partnership school once that becomes possible.
Our target student group are youth aged 15 to 17 who have left school early for whatever reason and now seek to return to school to complete their NCEA, their UE, or just to gain the credit bundle required for an apprenticeship. The school will operate in a Fa’a Pasifika manner. It most certainly will not be a grammar school. The key establishment position we need to fill is that of principal. The right candidate may be female or male. He or she may or may not be Pasifika, may have many years experience as a principal or may be coming from a teaching role. We are seeking someone who 'gets' where we are coming from and who is able to focus on achievement on the terms of each individual student. We also need the principal to:
