What can I expect?

In this practical workshop we will explore the essential elements of conversations that strengthen relationships as well as resolve issues or conflict. A range of everyday strategies, techniques and tools will be shared that you can use to improve your own skills and confidence in having professional conversations that are safe and productive. We will unpack how to have courageous conversations in a range of settings including:

  • With whānau, parents and caregivers
  • With my teacher colleagues
  • As a leader with my team

What are the learning outcomes?

  • What are the essential elements of effective conversations?
  • What strategies, techniques and tools to choose from and how to use them
  • How to plan for courageous conversations and continue to become better at them.

Who is this workshop for?

Early childhood Kaiako/teachers, team leaders, centre managers and owners. 

Who is the workshop facilitator?

Selena is an experienced teacher and Education Consultant and has worked with many leaders and teachers, both in Aotearoa and internationally. As a PLD Regional Manager, Deputy Principal, Team Leader and PLD facilitator she has courageous conversations every day and has built a repertoire of strategies, techniques and tools that work. Selena has also studied professional conversations at the post graduate level with both Dr. Helen Timperley (Practice Analysis Conversations) and Dr. Viviane Robinson (Open to Learning Conversations).
