Last year, my lecture set the stage for Kei Tua o te Pae, titled “Kei tua o te Pae, beyond the horizon: An opportunity to revisit our Learning Stories journey.” Now, two decades since the first publication, we’ve witnessed significant advancements in documenting children’s learning assessment.
In part two, I’ll further this journey, exploring the crucial aspects raised by Kei Tua o te Pae, starting with the importance of Māori educational advancement. The focus will then shift to ‘assessment for learning’ Te aromatawai mō te akoranga, covering key elements like everyday contexts, embracing uncertainty, listening to mokopuna, and collective assessments. Throughout, I’ll update documentation, showcasing the richness of our two-decade journey and the enduring value of exemplars.
The resource, anchored in the powerful metaphors of Te Whāriki and Kei Tua o te Pae, continues to fortify and enrich our educational practice in Aotearoa and beyond.
