We are seeking a learning support coordinator to work collaboratively across Whītau School and Te Aratai College as part of our well-established learning support teams. This position is set in the heart of Linwood, Christchurch in our high equity, multicultural and vibrant community. Our Learning Support Coordinator will work 0.56 at Whītau School and 0.44 at Te Aratai College on set days. They will need to be able to make informed pedagogical decisions, sustain high-trust relationships with a range of stakeholders and be ready to extend beyond the classroom.
The successful applicant will be an experienced teacher, whose strong relational practice enables them to work effectively with teachers and students to lift student learning outcomes, and who will also be an effective member of the LSC team within our Tamai Kāhui Ako. We are proud to be participating members of the Tamai Kāhui Ako. This coordinator will focus specifically on seamless support for learners with needs so they are included, engaged and successful. Experience in teaching learners with specific needs is a must. Such experience might include implementing successful interventions with learners and their whānau, supporting transitions between various educational settings, successful implementation of ākonga-whānau-school-MoE, IEPs, or supporting the School SENCo.
You will be passionate about engaging with ākonga Māori and other diverse learners, teachers and agencies, growing alongside SENCOs and collaborating with different team members across two schools. Each school's role will be tailored differently to suit the identified student, whānau and school needs.
