The Otago University Childcare Association is an association of 5 purpose built centres on the University campus. Te Uru is one of our centres for children over two years of age. It operates with a maximum of approximately 40 children with 100% qualified registered teachers.  We provide ratios of 1 to 8. Our Association pays full parity and kaiako receive five hours of non contact a week.

After more than 20 years with the association, our kaiako is retiring.  This means we will have a full time position available from the 22nd of July.  The successful applicant will become a part of a diverse, collaborative team that are passionate about children's learning.

Te Uru, like all of our centres is part of a diverse, predominantly University community.  We make the most of getting to know our rich local learning environment, the bush, botanical gardens, museum and University.  We are looking for a qualified and registered ECE teacher whose commitment to high quality teaching is evident in their practice.

We’re looking for a team member who is an enthusiastic participant in teaching and learning, has evidence of being an active reflective practitioner, can establish respectful and supportive relationships with diverse whānau, children and teachers, and has strengths in te reo me tikanga Māori. We welcome applications from new graduates.  We offer mentoring for registration, extensive collegial and professional support and a fantastic work environment.  Teaching in a large association also allows for long term professional growth as there is opportunity over time to teach in a variety of centres, all of which offer different education settings and environments.  ECECA and parity terms and conditions (see NZEI website for more info).
