‘Waiho i te taha katau o te rā, o te marama, o kōpū rere ai...’ – Kupe

Te Kāpehu Whetū or the “Māori Star Compass”, is the name of our Kura based in Whangārei. The name, given to us by Matua Hekenukumai Busby, combined with Kupe’s directions act as a metaphoric guide for us, empowering our ākonga to Be Māori, Be Educated, Be Rangatira, so that they can navigate their futures and stand confidently on the marae and in the world.

The position

We are seeking an inspirational Pouako who is interested in being part of a dynamic, exciting environment who is committed to kaupapa Māori. The ideal candidate must be passionate about quality teaching, committed to excellence in Reo and Tikanga Māori and learning in an integrated immersion environment.  

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Strong understanding and appreciation of Rūmaki and Reo Rua education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, ākonga and the wider community.

Requirements:

  • Relevant educational qualifications
  • MUST be a New Zealand citizen, reside or have already secured the right to work in New Zealand, and therefore, hold a valid visa.
