Balfour School is a small rural school, 30 mins northwest of Gore and 1 1/2 hours from the Southern Lakes District and Fiordland National Park.  

We are seeking a passionate, committed tumuaki to lead our tamariki into their bright positive future. 

Our principal will be a competent, fun and an enthusiastic person who connects and builds positive relationships with our ākonga. 

We seek a leader who:

• understands the values of a small rural community school
• leads with integrity 
• forms strong professional relationships with staff, students and families
• will actively promote good communication within the school community
• has a clear understanding of the NZ Curriculum and will uphold our responsibility to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• is highly visible and approachable to all.

The school community has a proud tradition of supporting our school with up-to-date resources, professional development for our teachers, teacher aide support and extra staffing as funding allows. It is important our tamariki receive the best we can provide. 

Participating in a long-term local environmental project, enjoying our  community pool and attractive grounds and participating in experiences valued by our community is an important aspect of our local curriculum.
