Centre manager

Our small not-for-profit community preschool is looking for a centre manager to lead our experienced and committed teaching team and work with our community management committee. We seek an effective leader with excellent administration and management skills for this full-time position (40 hours Monday to Friday).

We provide a play-based philosophy where the interests of our tamariki are nurtured and extended. You will be working alongside professional, passionate teachers who have a strong commitment to our tamariki, their whānau and our community. 

Our centre is licensed for 36 tamariki (10 under 2) and we operate during school terms. We maintain quality child-teacher ratios and have committed to extended pay parity.

We are looking for someone that has: 

• A passion for tamariki, whānau and community empowerment.
• BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current full teacher registration.
• Knowledge and experience managing day-to-day centre operations and commitment to quality practices and high standards.
• Commitment to the principles of Te Whāriki and capability to lead effective curriculum design.
• A comprehensive understanding of New Zealand education legislation, regulations and requirements.
• Solid understanding of policy development and obligations, procedures, and best practices.
• Experience managing a professional growth cycle and a self-motivated ongoing learner.
• Understanding of employment related practice and procedures supporting recruitment, appointments and maintaining a competent team.
• Excellent communication skills, efficient and a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
