Y6-7 kaiako - 3 days/0.6 job share

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our team in a job share position for our Y6-7 class for three days per week. The successful candidate will have a passion for education, a positive attitude and exceptional classroom management skills. Our ideal candidate will excel in building positive relationships for learning and possess the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Māori.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students in a Year 6/7 class.
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success and well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum initiatives that align with school goals and priorities.
  • Use Māori as the language of classroom management while ensuring English remains the main language of communication and instruction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field.
  • New Zealand Teacher Registration.
  • Experience teaching in a Y6-7 classroom preferred.
  • Proficiency in English with the ability to instruct in English.
  • Basic proficiency in Māori with the ability to communicate at a basic level.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
