Papakura High School is looking for a full-time, fixed term (until the end of 2024) experienced teacher for our homeroom programme for junior students in Y9 and 10, to commence on Monday 20 May, 2024. Those candidates with New Zealand experience are encouraged to apply.
This programme is for students at risk of disengaging from education, that has been running successfully for senior students in our school for four years and was expanded last year to include a junior class. Would ideally suit a primary trained teacher.
The successful applicant will possess the following:
a genuine passion for teaching in a high equity index kura and making a difference in students' lives and academic outcomes
strong relationship building skills
experience working with Māori and/or Pasifika students
a genuine commitment to raising student achievement
the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $62k to $95k, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individuals' actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
