An exciting leadership opportunity is open for a visionary leader to build on strong foundations and take our school to new heights as a truly inclusive, high achieving school. Our school is a semi-rural full primary school based in the township of Waipu, located in the stunning Bream Bay, just one and a half hours drive north of downtown Auckland. Our school population is currently 236 students, and normally reaches approximately 270 by year’s end. 

The board of Waipu Primary School invites applications to be our new principal from people who have a passion for leading learning and have demonstrated outstanding educational leadership in a New Zealand primary school context. Continuing to deliver on the school’s strategic plan, further building on existing strong relationships with stakeholder groups including local hapu, Patuharakeke, and being an active participant in our Kāhui Ako are seen as important goals for our new principal.

They will be a key driving force in building a learning community, where ākonga will be happy, successful, life-long learners who are connected, confident and engaged (our school vision). We seek an inclusive, but decisive leader to harness the full potential of the staff and community to propel our school forward. Our community, staff, students and Board are looking for a highly visible school leader who ensures our school is a safe and welcoming place with high expectations for learning and behaviour, alongside developing opportunities in sports, arts and culture.

The successful candidate will be well supported by a committed and dedicated staff and will work alongside a motivated Board, an active PTA, supportive whānau, and a diverse, engaged community.
