BestStart Parkside is seeking a passionate and dedicated qualified and certificated teacher to join our energetic and tight-knit team. 

We are a purpose-built centre located centrally, right across the road from Hagley Park. We are licensed for up to 50 children, which includes both an under and over two area. Our philosophy is based on a learning through play approach which allows children to explore, learn and develop in an environment that is flexible and unhurried; where children are given the chance to take risks, have fun, embrace challenges, and have the freedom to express their thoughts and emotions.

About the Role:  

This role is based in our nursey, working alongside out under 2-year-old tamariki. Our nursery is spacious, relaxed and inviting with a teaching team who have created a calm, unhurried atmosphere. Children are given full attention during those all-important routine times of eating, sleeping and nappy changing. By working at each child’s individual pace, we are able to ensure their ever-changing needs are nurtured. 

This is a fixed term position working 40 hours per week Monday-Friday.  This is to cover parental leave and will start in April 2024 and ending in January 2025.  

Role requirements:  

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current Teacher Certification  
  • Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning  
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki and hold compliance in a high regard  
  • Engage in planning and internal evaluation meetings.  
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices .
