Jo is presenting an Introduction to Numicon course in Gisborne. Numicon is a structured approach that makes maths visible and successful to all students. The morning begins with an introduction to the Numicon Approach and how it was implemented successfully across the school. After morning tea you will visit the classrooms. Register here. Come along to St Mary's Palmerston North and see maths in action. The morning starts with an introductory session learning about St Mary's journey. You will visit the classrooms to see Numicon in action in Year 0-6 and meet and talk with fellow educators.

This half day course is suitable for Teacher Aides teaching and supporting learners with diverse and/or complex learning needs. Catherine will explain how to use Numicon resources to support ideas of number sense, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and fractions. Please bring your own equipment (or purchase equipment from Edushop, eg. maths bag). Please bring your own lunch.
This course with Catherine is based on the Numicon Big Ideas. This programme enables students to be included in a classroom lesson with understanding. You will learn about the barriers students have in their learning and how to overcome or work with them, and how to follow a learning programme to move these students beyond NZC Levels 1 and 2/Phase 1 and early 2.
This course is suitable for a TA who is beginning their journey in working with students who are struggling learners and those wanting to deepen their knowledge. There are two course options. Follow the dropdown menu to make your selection.
This course with Trish will include information on how to teach and support students with High Learning Needs, autism, dyscalculia, and ADHD within NZC Level 1/Phase 1. You will learn how to plan a well-designed and engaging lesson for your learner(s), so they feel included in their classroom. You will also upskill your own knowledge of maths. This course will be based on Numicon Breaking Barriers. You will learn how to use this programme and use equipment that encourages discovery, understanding and application of maths in everyday life.
There are two course options: Cost to include Breaking Barriers Teaching Pack and Cost without the teaching pack if you already have it. Follow the dropdown menu to make your selection.
