2019 Auckland Regional Sport Stacking Tournament

The 2019 Auckland Regional Sport Stacking Tournament will be held on Sunday 18 August.

You can be sure that cups and records will fly as our experienced stackers vie to beat their own times, as well as those of their closest competitors. Novice stackers practise and compete amongst the experienced stackers. Tips and tricks will be passed on freely, and you will be encouraged and supported every step of the way.

This is a fun-filled family event and spectators and media can join sport stackers, instructors and volunteers from 9am.

NZLA 42nd National Conference 'The Arts as a Bridge to Literacy'

New Zealand Youth Tobacco Monitor 2019

Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) and the Health Promotion Agency (HPA) recently invited schools to participate in the 2019 New Zealand Youth Tobacco Monitor (NZYTM) involving the ASH Y10 Snapshot survey. The survey will be conducted in term 2 between 20 May and 5 July.

Participating in the NZYTM survey is important for ensuring the data and trends give an accurate reflection of what is happening in youth smoking across NZ. Participating schools will receive their school’s smoking figures, including a comparison with national trends in NZ.

Opportunities for Gifted and Talented Students at NZMSC in 2019

The New Zealand Marine Studies Centre (University of Otago) is supported by a MoE grant to deliver programmes designed for gifted and talented students. Immersed in the science of the marine world the programmes extend and enrich the shared learning through multidisciplinary connections and challenges.
Applications are invited from the South Island for a range of programmes with specific student targets, Y7–8, Y7–8 Pasifika, Y9 Māori, Y10, Y10 Māori, Y11, Y11–12 Māori.

New Website Summarising Research on the Use of Digital Technology in Schools

A Symposium for Inclusive Education

This symposium will provide an opportunity for education practitioners to access the most recent research and practice that describes effective and high quality inclusive education in both NZ schools and international examples.

A variety of speakers from different parts of the sector with wide knowledge and experience will address theory and research, share personal stories, political perspectives and future plans for inclusive education in NZ. Practical support and resources for teachers in the classroom will be a strong focus with opportunity for collaboration and discussion.
