The Reserve Bank of New Zealand - Te Pūtea Matua is excited to announce the 2024 Monetary Policy Challenge!

Join us for the kickoff of the challenge with a special webinar on Wednesday, August 28, from 11am to 12pm. Tune in live via our website for an exclusive panel discussion tailored for secondary schools. Chief Economist Paul Conway, along with other RBNZ experts, will delve into the August Monetary Policy Statement, share insights into their experiences at the RBNZ, and discuss their journeys into the field of economics. There will be a Q&A session for students to ask questions. Students can pre submit questions to challenge@rbnz.govt.nz and also ask questions on the day.

Following the webinar, teams of students will be invited to answer a question and submit a video presentation. The question will be released after the webinar on our website. Submissions close Wednesday 18 September at 5pm. While we encourage you to watch the webinar, it is not a condition of entry to the challenge. Students may also only watch the webinar and not participate in the challenge.

First place winners will be invited to spend the day at our Wellington office. Winners will get to sit front row in our press conference, have lunch with Governor Adrian Orr and have an exclusive look behind the scenes. We are also offering first place winners of Monetary Policy Challenge interviews to our internship programme.

For more information, please see here.

We encourage you to share this with students and teachers who may be interested in the webinar and/or competition.
