Schools' reporting to Oranga Tamariki: community feedback seminar (online)

Other New Zealand (nationwide)

Posted: 18 July 2024
Notice reference #: 1HAhQh

Why do school staff and members of NZ police make reports of concern to Oranga Tamariki?

This community feedback seminar presents our findings on school and police staff experiences of making reports of concern about children’s care.

Why do they report? What are their key considerations, and how do they weigh up different sources of information, risks and protective factors, and ethical imperatives? How are report decisions shaped by relationships with parents and children, multi-disciplinary teams, previous report outcomes and bureaucratic systems? Come along and find out.

All welcome. Nau mai, haere mai.

Presenters:
Emily Keddell and Sarah Colhoun.
University of Otago, Otakou Whakaihu Waka.

Date: July 25th, 4 – 5.30pm
