Over 350 kaiako around the motu have already participated in our micro-credential course, Effective mentoring practices for secondary teachers in Aotearoa, and we’ve received amazing feedback such as this one:
“The guidance and mentorship I received have empowered me to become a more effective mentor to my students, helping them navigate their educational journeys while respecting and embracing their diverse backgrounds. This programme has been instrumental in my development as a mentor, and I am deeply appreciative of the knowledge and expertise it has provided me.”
Developed in partnership between Pūtea Whakawhanake Pouako | PPTA Learning and Development Centre and Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, this 5-point micro-credential course is designed to provide an accessible way for teachers to learn the skills and capabilities they need to be effective mentors.
The course spans one school term and includes online self-paced modules, three live online webinars, and a one-day, in-person workshop. Full course registration is funded by the Ministry of Education via the PPTA Learning and Development Centre, who provide a travel grant of $500 (including GST) to assist with the expenses related to attending the workshop.
Course content has been designed to focus on practical skills and knowledge that can be applied and assessed within a professional context with a specific focus on mentoring in the context of Aotearoa.
