In this 5-session programme, mentor facilitators will guide participants through inquiry that aligns with their practice in schools. These experienced facilitators will be responsive to the needs of these teachers, identifying and accessing expertise that supports their professional learning. The Y1 programme includes writing and reading workshops with either Sheena Cameron or Louise Dempsey and a workshop with Dr Mary Miller, focused on addressing student and teacher wellbeing. Participants will benefit from the opportunity to share experiences and collaboratively problem solve with colleagues and mentors will ensure that expectations and guidelines from the Teaching Council are understood and will support teachers to develop positive relationships with their mentor teacher.
Participants will be supported to create, develop and maintain personal portfolios of evidence and models of reflection will be shared to support this. Teachers will be encouraged to align this with existing appraisal processes used in their schools and will work closely with the standards for the teaching profession to ensure that they are prepared when applying for full registration.
