Cyber Assistant Tool

The Ministry of Education's new Cyber Assistant Tool aims to help kura and schools understand their level of resilience against cyber security and privacy threats. Research shows that schools take twice as long to recover from a cyber incident than other organisations – this tool is being developed to help guide schools on which preventative security actions to take. Schools complete a self-assessment through a set of survey questions about their cyber security and then receive up to five practical actions to improve their security. These actions are tailored for your school, providing the most important steps to take to enhance the security of your school’s digital environment.

Join our pilot to get early access to our new Cyber Assistant Tool

We need your help to identify how we improve this tool and are looking for schools to be part of our pilot. Pilot testing will begin from late June 2024. By participating your school will receive practical advice on how to reduce your cyber security risks by getting exclusive access to the tool prior to its launch. Importantly, you will be able to contribute feedback for how we further develop this tool for use for schools across Aotearoa. The data and insights gathered will be key to informing the funding required to provide the necessary ongoing supports to schools.
