Submissions open for new issue of early childhood journal He Kupu!

Academic ECE journal, He Kupu (The Word), is calling for submissions to the October 2024 issue, focused on the theme of ‘Readiness to Teach’. 

Educators, researchers and early childhood practitioners are invited to submit research findings, essays, case studies, practical teaching strategies or a book review around what the theme means to them.We welcome submissions from a range of perspectives as long as articles have a clear connection to the theme. 

Examples of topics that align with the theme include, but are not limited to: 

  • Fostering adaptive expertise to support enhanced pedagogy 
  • Developing relationships with learners and their families 
  • The value and purpose of reflective practice for professional learning 
  • The role of coaching and mentoring in the workplace 
  • Fostering early and legitimate participation of student teachers in the workplace 
  • Supporting culturally responsive pedagogy 
  • Developing skills to inquire into own teaching practices 
  • Nurturing dispositions of inquiry, inquisitiveness and empathy. 

He Kupu is produced twice a year by New Zealand Tertiary College. The peer-reviewed journal has a global readership of over 11,000 subscribers. It provides early childhood education professionals the opportunity to share research and practical knowledge across a wide range of topics relevant to the education sector, and is an important resource for professional development. 

Submissions are due by Monday 19 August 2024.
