Oamaru Kindergarten Association has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Kaiako (0.60 position) to join our fantastic team in February 2025.

If you are a qualified, registered kaiako who demonstrates energy, passion, and leadership expertise then this could be the role for you.  We are looking for a skilled kaiako to support our teaching teams to enable the best environments to nurture, grow and make a difference for tamariki.

This diverse and busy role works within a highly effective Association Leadership Team advising, guiding and supporting kindergartens to ensure high quality educational outcomes for all tamariki. Early Intervention training and/or experience would be an advantage as you will also guide and support our diverse learners, kaiako and whānau to ensure there are equitable outcomes for all.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • ability to develop meaningful relationships with tamariki, kaiako, whānau and communities
  • early intervention training and/or experience working with diverse learners
  • an open mind, able to work collaboratively, and actively listens
  • mentoring, coaching, and facilitation expertise
  • a proven track record in developing, leading and implementing high-quality educational outcomes for ākonga
  • strength in bicultural practice, knowledge of Tikanga o Te Ao Māori and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • current sector knowledge and leadership experience in all areas of early childhood education
  • proven working knowledge of ECE licencing criteria 2008.

 You must have a:

  • recognised early childhood teaching qualification
  • current Practicing Certificate (Full)
  • current First Aid Certificate
  • current Drivers Licence
  • the right to work in NZ or a valid NZ work visa.
