Mo te tunga / About the role:

BestStart Fendalton are looking for an experienced teacher who is passionate and enthusiastic about working with any age, but a passion for 2-3-year-olds would be a bonus.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Experienced working in an ECE setting
  • Bubbly, outgoing, kind, patient, and able to show initiative
  • A self-starter, creating exciting ideas and experiences to extend our children's learning while aligning with our centre's philosophy
  • Someone who is confident in developing strong relationships with our whānau.

Role requirements:

  • BEd/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary) and current practicing certificate
  • Understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning
  • Knowledge of the current ECE Regulations, Te Whāriki and hold compliance in a high regard
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices.

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, between 7.30am-5.30pm, Monday-Friday.

BestStart Fendalton is a small, warm, home-like, centre where our small knit team work very closely together across our nursery and preschool rooms. They has a strong focus on Set for School and social and emotional competence.

Along with creating strong links with our community through weekly excursions, our kaiako work alongside our tamariki to understand their culture, language, and identity.

We love to get outdoors in all types of weather and explore the natural environment around us
