We are seeking a soft materials kaiako committed to enhancing the mauri ora of our ākonga. Kaiako at our school are reflective Treaty partners whose practice is founded upon the principles of cultural relationships for responsive pedagogy.
Kaiako at Nelson Intermediate: Establish and maintain engaging relationships with ākonga, staff and whānau. Place ākonga at the centre of their mahi. Have a deep understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Develop a culturally relational and responsive classroom environment. Work co-operatively and collaboratively with ākonga and whānau. Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Have sound knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and use effective pedagogy to support its implementation. Engage in a professional growth cycle effectively to enhance high ākonga outcomes. Support the school vision and values. Participate in wider school activities. The teaching and learning we do, are deliberate, have purpose, and the learning is relevant to the ‘real world’ within a purposeful curriculum that is structured to be stimulating and challenging.

Our soft materials kaiako will work within our technology department. They will have sound knowledge of soft materials and its place in the NZ Curriculum and/or Te Marautanga o Aotearoa.
This is a 0.7 LTR position; however, full-time working conditions maybe negotiated by the successful applicant.
