Exciting Opportunity at BLENNZ Homai Campus, Manurewa Position

Are you a dynamic and innovative teacher passionate about guiding young individuals with visual impairments towards successful transitions into adulthood? BLENNZ (Blind and Low Vision Education Network NZ) is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team at Homai Campus. We are currently hiring for the permanent position of Resource Teacher Vision (RTV) 1.0, focusing on Transition Education.

Key responsibilities:

• Facilitate the smooth transition of ākonga (learners) aged 15 to 21 with visual impairments, including those who are blind, deafblind, and low vision.

• Utilise your experience in careers and transition education to empower ākonga in planning for life beyond school.

• An understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi to support Māori ākonga in their educational journey.

• Collaborate effectively with parents, whānau, educators, and community stakeholders to ensure holistic support for ākonga.

Requirements:

• Current Teacher Registration in New Zealand.

• Up-to-date knowledge of the NZ Curriculum.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders.

• Competency in utilising technology to enhance learning experiences.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team-teaching environment along with contributing positively to the wider team collaborative environment at Homai Campus.

Desirable skills:

• Experience in vision education desired, although not essential. Support to complete the Post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Education - Vision will be provided to the successful candidate.

• Proficiency in te reo Māori desired although not essential.

• Experience in careers and transition education desired although not essential
