Fairhaven School in Napier is a leading specialist school for students aged 5 to 21 years who are ORS funded. Our learners all have unique abilities and strengths and with specialist teaching are able to experience rich learning in a variety of contexts within school and our local community. Our learners learn best when guided by teachers who are strengths-based, enthusiastic and flexible thinkers.
Our classes of 8 to 10 learners are supported by the class teacher, teacher aides, and our therapy team. There is the opportunity to work with either our young adult class or in the primary area of our school. This role is suitable for both those with a specialist education background and those who are keen to move into specialist education. Professional development in specialist teaching will be ongoing.
The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the relevant collective agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers will range from $59,027 to $99,216 depending on applicants’ qualifications and experience. Individuals’ actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
