Cambridge High School (CHS) is a co-educational school, established in 1883, with a roll of approximately 1,800 students.
An opportunity exists to join the leadership team in our English faculty. The current responsibility is a co-assistant head of faculty role alongside management of the Y12 programme. There may be some flexibility for negotiation around this.
The faculty is very collegial, collaborative, supportive, and forward-thinking in its approach. We have been on a culturally responsive journey for the last few years. Currently, we are focusing on cementing changes into our current practice to reinforce this, alongside introducing the new NCEA Level 1 standards. Having current NCEA knowledge and experience of Level 2 and 3 is essential.
Many of this faculty co-teach classes, which enhances the collaborative environment that is expected as a member of this team. The current timetable will not allow for a co-teaching experience but is something that would be available to opt into in 2025.
Staff wellbeing and a student-centred approach are two driving forces of this faculty, and the ideal candidate will place strong emphasis on this in both their classroom practice and leadership. The successful applicant will enjoy having fun at work both in the classroom and in the faculty spaces.
We welcome applications from candidates who are open to learning and working within the kind of environment that we have described.
This opportunity has come about through a current co-assistant head of faculty taking extended refreshment leave for 18 months. As such, this is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to develop their leadership skills. Prior leadership experience at AHOF level is not required.
Please contact us for more information about this opportunity and responsibilities of the role.
