Healthy active learning advisor - Balclutha

Are you passionate about promoting active, healthy lifestyles for tamariki through education and physical activity? Sport Otago is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a healthy active learning advisor based in Balclutha. Working in a fun, collaborative and supportive team, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of physical activity and well-being in schools.  

You will work into 9 primary and intermediate schools across the South Otago district to provide support to schools to understand the value of the health and physical education curriculum as well as advocating for quality school and community play, sport and physical activities outside curriculum time. You will work closely with principals, senior leaders and teachers of primary and intermediate schools to provide advice and customised support.  

The successful candidate will:  

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification, in education, sport/recreation/ community sport/development or have  
• Experience, knowledge and understanding of the operating models in primary and intermediate schools and/or kura  
• Experience in designing and facilitating professional learning and development opportunities.  

 Desirable:  

• Knowledge and understanding of how the sport and education sectors interact to deliver PE, sport, active recreation and play opportunities for tamariki  
• Experience in planning, coordinating and implementing quality play, sport and physical activity opportunities and experiences for tamariki.
