The Cat's Pyjama's Preschool and Nursery is seeking a passionate and dedicated teacher-in-training!

At The Cat’s Pyjamas Preschool Rolleston, we believe that children are naturally motivated to play. We use this as the base for our daily programme, encouraging tamariki to explore their interests through fun and engaging experiences. We believe in education being a collaborative process where children, teachers and whānau constantly engage in conversation with one another to meet aspirations and learning outcomes for all.  

About the role:  

Whether you are a first, second or third year student or yet to enrol, or even want to come in as a caregiver prior to considering study, if you have a passion for teaching young children, and experience, we want to hear from you. 

This position will be 40 hours per week. This can be 5 days a week with 8 hour shifts or 4 days a week with 10 hour shifts, the choice is yours! 

We are looking for someone who is motivated, has a passion for 2 to 3.5-year-olds, communicates and works well within a team, is flexible and wants to work in a fun environment.

Role requirements:  

  • Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending on our children's learning  
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE regulations, Te Whāriki and hold compliance in a high regard  
  • A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices  
  • Experience working with children under 5 years old.
