Programme facilitator (Space) – Tawa & Johnsonville Playcentres

Space is an amazing programme that gives new parents that ‘village’ they need to help raise their baby. Many Space members move on to become Playcentre families.

We are searching for two motivated and enthusiastic Programme Facilitators to join our team.  As a Programme Facilitator, you will help parents and their babies connect with other new parents while exploring parenting, children’s development and most importantly, play.

Start date: 29 April 2024.

Location: Tawa Playcentre and Johnsonville Playcentre

Days & hours: Wednesdays 1.15–4.25pm at Tawa Playcentre. Wednesdays 8.45am–3pm and Thursdays 12–3pm at Johnsonville Playcentre. These are permanent positions, during school term time only.

The candidate must:

• Have completed Playcentre Course 3 or 4, or an equivalent ECE qualification, or higher.
• Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

• A passion for working with new babies and children (aged up to 6 years) alongside parents and caregivers.
• Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
• Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session;
• Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
• Having great interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence speaking within a group.
• Having completed prior Space training will be advantageous but is not necessary.
