Session facilitator – Newtown Playcentre

To support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau. 

Let your inner author shine writing leaning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders while supporting whānau with their exploring their light bulb moments.  

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents / whānau / members / tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Start date: 29 April.

Location: Newtown Playcentre.

Days and hours: Mondays and Fridays 9am–1pm, during school term time only. This is a fixed-term position, ending 27 September.

The ideal candidate must have the following:

• Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher.  
• A current first aid certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

• Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
• A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults 
• An ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers in their role as kaiako
• A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required
• Confidence when speaking within a group
• A passion for supporting te reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
