Little Parrots is a new early childhood education community in Mount Maunganui. We are seeking dynamic and passionate kaiako to grow our team in a number of roles across all age groups. As the heart of the ‘Little Parrots Whānau’, these roles play a crucial part in fostering our philosophy of whanaungatanga and ensuring the holistic development of all our tamariki. We are looking for people who share our commitment to creating a nurturing and culturally rich environment where every tamaiti can thrive.

Key responsibilities:

    • Ensuring a high standard of care and education.
    • Implementing and upholding our philosophy of whanaungatanga in all aspects of Little Parrots functioning.
  • Curriculum development:
    • Work closely with qualified educators to further develop and enhance our curriculum based on the principles of Te Whāriki.
    • Creating learning opportunities that celebrate the individual interests, strengths, and cultural backgrounds of each tamaiti.
    • Promoting a balance of support and freedom to empower tamariki to reach their full potential.
  • Cultural responsiveness:
    • Honour Te Tiriti O Waitangi and integrate te reo and tikanga practices into daily activities.
    • Strengthen and affirm the cultural identity of each tamaiti by involving their whānau and wider community.
    • Foster an inclusive and respectful environment that acknowledges the bicultural heritage of Aotearoa.

Qualifications and experience:

  • ECE teaching qualification and practising certificate.
