An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled educational leader experienced in pastoral care and outdoor education to manage the King's College Venture Camp property and oversee the wellbeing of students participating in the adventure challenge outdoor programme.

  • Enjoy a challenging, busy and varied role in the great outdoors
  • Work with a committed team of professionals in a friendly environment
  • Inspire young people to reach their potential through wilderness experiences

King’s College offers a premier 18-day adventure challenge for Y10 students, beginning at the King’s College Venture Camp in Ahuroa near Puhoi. The program includes a sailing journey on the Hauraki Gulf and a wilderness expedition in the Central North Island plateau, featuring activities such as multi-day tramping, rock climbing, high ropes, alpine experiences, caving, mountain biking, sailing, canyoning, and coasteering.

We partner with external organizations to deliver this outdoor program. The role involves coordinating these activities to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient execution. The successful candidate will primarily oversee the pastoral care of students, ensuring they are well-supported and get the most out of the experience. They will also engage with students, parents, and staff on both pastoral and logistical matters. The position offers opportunities to work strategically to develop the program in line with college values, as well as administratively to oversee documentation and daily operations.

The role is based at the Venture Camp at Ahuroa, with on-site accommodation provided, though it may require time away at other locations. Ideal candidates are passionate about transformative outdoor experiences, with strong pastoral experience in an educational context. King’s College offers generous professional development opportunities, with remuneration commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
