HOD learning enhancement

Due to a retirement, we are now looking to recruit a new HOD learning support to lead our learning support team.

We are looking for candidates who are able to:

• Build positive connections with families and agencies as they are the face of our school
• Work in a solutions-focused and collaborative manner with our learning support team and SLT
• Support teachers in the development of their teaching practice
• Wrap a projective and supportive korowai around our students who need additional support. Ensure our students have access to the internal and external services they need.

This is an opportunity for  a passionate, engaging and energetic person to lead and oversee our SENCO / Learning Enhancement Area, commencing at the beginning of 2025.

The successful applicant will be collaborative, understand funding, be organised and will be involved in overseeing Learning Enhancement as the SENCO at WGHS. It would be an advantage to have NCEA and Unit Standards knowledge and prior experience in the SENCO area, have an understanding of neurodiversity, cultural competency and have the ability to engage with whānau and the school community.

Previous experience teaching students with learning difficulties is an advantage.

Applicants for positions at WGHS must be NZ registered teachers and will endorse the school’s academic priority as well as be expected to participate in the extensive co-curricular life of the school.

A commitment to mana ōrite mō te mārauranga māori and cultural responsiveness is essential.

This is a full-time, permanent position to start at the beginning of term 1, 2025.

Annual remuneration is dependent on service and qualifications, hours of work will be full-time as set out in the STCA.
