Omokoroa Playcentre Bay of Plenty

Session facilitator

You will work alongside our centre whānau to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child led play and positive guidance, increase use of te reo Māori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau. 

Let your inner author shine writing leaning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders while supporting whānau with their exploring their light bulb moments.   

Start date: 14 October 2024 however, this can be negotiated with the successful candidate.

Location: Omokoroa Playcentre, 334 Omokoroa Road, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty.

Days & hours: This is a permanent position of four days a week. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8.45am to 12.15pm and Fridays 8.45am to 12.45pm, during school term time only. Possible reduction of days can be considered and negotiated with the successful candidate.

The candidate must have the following:

• Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an early childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher  
• Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

• Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi 
• A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults 
• Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.  

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
