About us:

As part of the Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA), we are committed to providing exceptional early childhood education. Our kindergarten fosters a love of learning through play, exploration, and connection with nature. We value strong whānau partnerships and a welcoming community for all.

Your role:

  • Strategic leadership: Develop and implement a shared vision for the kindergarten, aligning with AKA's strategic goals.
  • Team development: Build a high-performing team through mentorship, coaching, and professional development.
  • Curriculum leadership: Ensure alignment with Te Whāriki, promote play-based learning, and foster a culture of inquiry.
  • Whānau partnerships: Build strong relationships with whānau, creating a sense of belonging and collaboration.
  • Operational management: Oversee daily operations, manage resources, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience as a head kaiako in an early childhood setting.
  • Qualified and registered ECE kaiako with a current first aid certificate.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development and mentorship.
  • Deep understanding of Te Whāriki and its implementation in practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with whānau, staff, and the community.
  • Demonstrated ability in curriculum planning, assessment, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of ECE regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Passion for early childhood education and a commitment to lifelong learning.
