Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school with a roll of up to 24,000 ākonga (students) at any point of time. We provide personalised learning programmes from early childhood to NCEA Level 3.
Our ākonga are at the centre of all we do. We are privileged to have the opportunity to support many ākonga on their learning journey including many at risk ākonga.
Mō tēnei tūranga mahi / About this position
We are looking for a creative, innovative kaiako (teacher) to join Te Aka Taumatua, which leads bilingual and immersion te reo Māori provision for full-time, young adults and dual-registered ākonga through te reo Māori at Te Kura.
We are looking for a kaiako who's an expert in Y1–10, to join our Te Aka Taumatua tīma (team) and can be based in one of Te Kura North Island regional office located in Wellington, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Hastings, Rotorua, Gisborne, Tauranga, Hamilton, Auckland or Whangarei.
Kaiako at Te Kura engage with our ākonga online and face-to-face at huinga ako (advisories) and events, and also work onsite with colleagues in our regional offices. Te Kura aims to provide flexible working arrangements, so Kaiako are able to request to work from home for up to two days per week.

It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and assessment requirements. You'll be future-oriented and understand how the use of technology, together with your enthusiasm, vision and commitment improves education outcomes for all our students, Māori and Pasifika learners in particular.
