Murchison Playcentre Tasman/Nelson

Session facilitator

Murchison Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic session facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community for two sessions per week. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance. 

Start date: Once position is filled.

Location: Murchison Playcentre

Days and hours: Wednesdays and Thursdays 9am–1pm. This is a permanent position, during school term time only.

The candidate must have:

• The Playcentre C3 qualification or the New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care L4 or a higher ECE qualification or a Primary Teaching qualification with the Playcentre Primary Teacher Bridging Award, for licencing purposes.
• A current first aid certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

• A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy
• Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
• An ability to support and empower parents, whānau, and caregivers in their role as kaiako
• A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required
• Confidence when speaking within a group
• A passion for supporting te reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
