Huanui College is an independent, coeducational Y7–13 school, located in Whangarei 10 minutes from the city. We are looking for a highly motivated, well-organised, collaborative and motivated individual to join our Humanities Learning Area to deliver engaging and effective lessons which cater for students' individual needs.

The humanities learning area is dedicated to the development of Learner Agency throughout both the Junior and Senior Curriculum. Skills based learning is essential for curiosity and engagement with students encouraged to take ownership of their learning through social construction and reflection, developing their critical thinking skills.  

A knowledge of the Cambridge International curriculum would be an advantage but is not essential.  

To excel in this position you should have:

  • A strong subject knowledge and a passion for Humanities
  • The ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Willingness to collaborate and develop resources to support student curiosity, engagement and skill development
  • Good communication and relationship skills 
  • The ability to provide a high challenge/high support learning environment
  • A focus on self-reflection and an ethos of continuous improvement.
