Principal

Due to our inspirational current principal gaining promotion, the Piopio College community is seeking a new principal to lead us on the next part of our exciting educational journey. We are looking for a leader with excellent interpersonal skills, innovative educational pedagogy and proven inspirational and modern leadership approaches.

Piopio College is a coeducational Y7–13 college and is a U4 school. Situated in the beautiful limestone area of the King Country, our college serves a wide community base that extends throughout the Waitomo region. Featuring a supportive Board, committed staff and positive community spirit, Piopio College is an attractive option for an aspiring or experienced principal. Could this be you?

• Be an approachable leader who displays natural warmth, compassion and a leadership style that is based on developing strong relationships with our students, staff and community.
• Demonstrate a commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi across all aspects of the principal’s role and be willing to embrace Maniapototanga.
• Show a commitment to genuinely student-centred culturally responsive practice.
• Be able to demonstrate innovative educational leadership practices, with a clear expectation of student academic achievement along with vocational pathways, for our diverse range of students.
• Be inspirational, passionate and able to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships within the school, our community, and local hapu.
• Be prepared to lead and to make challenging decisions when required.
• Be a NZ registered teacher with experience in leading progressive change, based on the needs of our students.
