Seeking an adaptable, empathetic and motivated leader for a rewarding role working with students who have been absent from school due to their health conditions.

The aim of the Central Regional Health School is to maintain the education of students, Y0–14, when their physical or mental health prevents them from attending their regular school. Teachers support students to maintain engagement in their educational programmes of learning and transition back to school or to a vocational pathway.

This role is leading the team of staff in Porirua. The role also gets a special duties allowance and the Regional Health School Teacher Unit. Daily travel to students’ homes, local schools, health settings and other venues around Porirua and Greater Wellington is a component of the job. This is a teaching and a leadership position, supporting and leading the regional CRHS staff, and maintaining and strengthening relationships and networks with professional partners will be an important responsibility of the role.

The role will best suit someone who is flexible, innovative, patient and self-motivated. The preferred applicant will also have a minimum of five years successful experience as a teacher, with in-depth knowledge of the NZ Curriculum from Levels 1-8, be able to adapt the New Zealand Curriculum, including key competencies, to suit the individuals learning and health needs and be able to work collaboratively within each students’ wider team.

Applicants must be an experienced NZ registered teacher with a current practising certificate.  A current, full, clean NZ driver licence is required.  A school vehicle is provided for work travel.
