We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative, and passionate educator with a friendly personality to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating child led play.

You will work alongside our Centre whānau to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki, while role modelling child led play and positive guidance.

We would like someone who can support whānau in the use of Te Reo Māori, encourage participation and demonstrate the benefits of participating in the Playcentre Education programme to help to increase qualification levels at our centre.

Let your inner author shine writing leaning stories that highlight tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders while supporting whānau with their exploring their light bulb moments.

We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/ whānau /members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

This position is 2 days per week - Monday & Thursday from 9am–1pm during school term time only, and located at Ngakuru Playcentre

We would like our new facilitator to start on 9 September however this is negotiable.

The ideal candidate will need to have the following:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or a Level 4 Early Childhood qualification, or higher.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
