Due to promotion into a principalship position, we are seeking a dedicated and dynamic deputy principal to join our leadership team, with a focus on pastoral support and wellbeing. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive school environment where every student feels supported and valued.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the development and implementation of pastoral care systems to support student wellbeing.
Lead the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) team, and communicate trends in the data to staff on a regular basis.
Chair the Pastoral Committee and the Restorative Practice Committee, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
Oversee student attendance and behaviour management, ensuring adherence to school policies and fostering a warm, inclusive culture.
Facilitate ongoing professional learning and development (PLD) for staff, promoting high standards and continuous improvement.
Work closely with internal middle leaders and external organisations to support student wellbeing and learning support.
Our ideal candidate will have:
Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
Experience in developing and implementing pastoral care learning programmes.
A commitment to fostering Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Excellent budget management skills in an educational setting.
Impeccable time management when delivering on strategic goals.
Strong understanding of pastoral care and restorative practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school culture.
The successful candidate will be part of a 4-person leadership team which includes 2 other deputy principals and the principal.
