Due to promotion into a principalship position, we are seeking a dedicated and dynamic deputy principal to join our leadership team, with a focus on pastoral support and wellbeing. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive school environment where every student feels supported and valued.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of pastoral care systems to support student wellbeing.
  • Lead the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) team, and communicate trends in the data to staff on a regular basis.
  • Chair the Pastoral Committee and the Restorative Practice Committee, ensuring effective communication and decision-making.
  • Oversee student attendance and behaviour management, ensuring adherence to school policies and fostering a warm, inclusive culture.
  • Facilitate ongoing professional learning and development (PLD) for staff, promoting high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with internal middle leaders and external organisations to support student wellbeing and learning support.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven leadership experience in an educational setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing pastoral care learning programmes.
  • A commitment to fostering Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Excellent budget management skills in an educational setting.
  • Impeccable time management when delivering on strategic goals.
  • Strong understanding of pastoral care and restorative practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive school culture.

The successful candidate will be part of a 4-person leadership team which includes 2 other deputy principals and the principal.
