About Liger Leadership Academy
The Liger Leadership Academy is dedicated to transforming education through innovative, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. Our curriculum is split 50/50 between Essential Learning and Explorations, Liger’s project-based community projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design Learning: Develop the senior science curriculum for Physics and Chemistry.
  • Revolutionize Learning: Deliver a curriculum with complex concepts, real-world applications, and hands-on projects.
  • Inspire and Innovate: Use cutting-edge technology and creative problem-solving strategies.
  • Lead with Passion: Engage students with dynamic teaching methods.
  • Empower Students: Mentor students to apply scientific principles innovatively.
  • Collaborate and Create: Work with educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and develop unique educational experiences.

Position Overview Liger does not teach Level 1 but delivers some Level 2 standards in Year 11.

  • Year 12: Physics and chemistry
  • Year 11: General science
  • Explorations: Possible involvement
  • Essentials Program: Contribute to curriculum design and alignment with the new NZ Curriculum.
  • Facilitation Duties:
    • Year 12 physics and chemistry: 3 contact hours each, plus an additional hour for self-study.
    • Year 11 general science: 2 contact hours per week.
    • One morning and one lunch duty per week.
    • Offer an after-school extension activity.

Always required as a Liger facilitator:

  • Implement the latest educational trends and methodologies.
  • Promote a skills and inquiry-based learning approach.
  • Ensure teaching and learning cater to all students' needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve teaching and learning.
  • Live Liger’s core values daily.
  • Guide learners on how to learn.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Registered teacher in NZ or eligible for registration.
  • Degree in physics, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching secondary school physics and chemistry.
  • Strong understanding of the NCEA qualification framework.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for science and education.
