Deputy Principal

Our kura seeks to appoint a calm, positive and approachable leader to join our team. 

Wairarapa Cobham Intermediate, a recently rebuilt school,  seeks a dedicated Deputy Principal to lead the pastoral elements of the school. This is an exceptional opportunity for an educator who wants to make a difference. 

In this key role, you will:

• Provide exceptional leadership and direction for the school's pastoral care framework, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
• Support staff in the nurturing of students who need extra emotional, behavioural and or academic guidance.
• Oversee the implementation of pastoral care programmes and PB4L initiatives, fostering student wellbeing and positive behaviours. 
• Act as a trusted point of contact for parents and caregivers, providing guidance and support on student matters.
• Contribute effectively to the senior leadership team, shaping the strategic direction of the school.

We are seeking a candidate who possesses:

• The ability to problem solve and foresee issues or challenges. 
• The ability to tread the line between compassion and demanding high expectations of all students. 
• The skills to oversee Hero across the school. 
• A strong commitment to student wellbeing and a passion for fostering positive youth development.
• The ability to coach and mentor staff. 
• Extensive experience in developing, implementing, sustaining and reviewing PB4L systems across a school.

This is a fully released position commencing at the beginning of term 1, 2025.
