The role/Te mahi
We are seeking a qualified teacher of the Deaf or an experienced NZ registered classroom teacher who has NZSL skills, in-depth understanding of the NZ Curriculum and assessment tools.
In this role:
Our class sizes are small groups of students
You will be a teacher with the right skills and attitude who can work with a range of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across all communication modes (including New Zealand Sign Language and spoken English) and in varying learning contexts. We will help you learn NZSL if needed
You will work within a Deaf provision teaching team, which includes teachers and teacher aides of the Deaf, with access to other specialists as required
An opportunity to team teach with another experienced teacher of the Deaf
Your strong knowledge of the NZ Curriculum means you will have the ability to adapt the curriculum to primarily focus on literacy and numeracy with our young students
Strong classroom management skills and knowledge of planning for students' individual needs.
