Little Sparrows Leamington is a ‘family feel’ centre that strongly believes whanaungatanga is the at the core of all learning. With this strong focus we use tuakana/teina as an active teaching strategy to encourage critical thinking, strengthen peer relationships, encourage sharing of knowledge and building independence through communication, cognitive thinking, collaboration, and the sharing of responsibilities. This is reflected in our collaborative teaching practise where we actively encourage a shared leadership approach. We understand and encourage each kaiako to build on their own areas of expertise, this when shared helps bring a greater depth of teaching and builds a high level of communication and trust between colleagues.
The applicant will need to be a passionate infants kaiako, provisionally or fully qualified and flexible to work within an existing team; with a positive and professional approach to teaching and be proactive and motivated to grow in your own teaching practices. Confident and competent in documenting and evaluating learning is a plus with a team that values working together to extend and build knowledge and understanding.
