Part-time one-year fixed term, 24 hours per week, term time only

Auckland Council Experience Centres are seeking an experienced educator to deliver curriculum-based, hands-on learning experiences at the Zere Waste Zone
The opportunity
- Provide experiential learning sessions for students, teachers and adults that empower waste reduction at school or home
- Work 24 hours over four days a week at The Zero Waste Zone
Key criteria
- Planning, delivery and facilitation of education sessions for schools at all year levels, including early childhood, and occasionally to community groups
- Flexibility to work on a set roster basis over four days a week during school term time
- Assist with programme and resource development, maintenance and up-keep, including gardening maintenance where required
- Host community members, council staff, representatives and guests visiting the sites
- Comply with health and safety policies, procedures and practices
- Attend training, professional development and meetings
- Assist with training new educators
Qualifications and experience
- Environmental / sustainability background
- Teaching qualifications preferred, but not essential
- Experience working with rangatahi, preferably in the outdoors
- Excellent communication and group facilitation skills
- Understanding of mātauranga Māori
- Strong Health & Safety practice
- Ability to contribute to coordination, maintenance and administration of programmes.
