1.0 FTTE permanent (HPSTA benefits apply), (MU(s) available to suitable candidates).
Ngā Here Kahikatea is an integral part of Te Kura Tuarua o Māwhera/Greymouth High School. It has grown in strength in the last 5 years as a whānau core class with 5 learners from each year level. Rangatahi spend approximately 8 hours per week learning together and the remainder in other subjects. An interview process happens to determine new students and their commitment to kaupapa Māori. Ngā Here Kahikatea is a place where rangatahi can feel proud to be Māori. It is a place that gives a sense of belonging, a place with high expectations on individuals to be part of something bigger – uplifting our own mana and the mana of others.
This role includes being part of a highly supportive team, having the potential to develop exciting pathways for our community, professional development support and a beautiful whare to work from. Greymouth High School works very closely with mana whenua Ngāti Waewae who support not only Ngā Here Kahikatea but the whole school community.
We acknowledge our students as individuals and provide learning and support so everyone can achieve success whatever success looks like to them and their whānau. Our kura serves the entire Māwhera/Grey District community and we pride ourselves on inclusiveness in our socio-economically diverse community. We collaborate in Māwhera Kāhui Ako and the Manaiakalani Outreach programme, as well as running the West Coast Trades Academy, Māwhera Services Academy and overseeing attendance for the Kāhui Ako and Alternative Education for the region.
All students have the opportunity to work 1:1 using Chromebooks. We seek the highest quality teachers who enjoy going the extra mile for their students and our community.
Start date beginning of term 4, 2024 or by negotiation.
