St Joseph’s School, Hastings, is seeking a faith-filled leader to join our community as the new principal. We are a state integrated Y1–8 Catholic school dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of every student.

Our kura is situated in the Catholic parish of Hastings. We are well known for our commitment to gospel values and educational excellence. Our school fosters a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to develop and grow in their faith.

The role:

As principal, you will be the faith and education leader responsible for upholding and enhancing our Catholic identity and mission. You will inspire and guide our dedicated staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education that meets the needs of all learners. Your leadership will foster a collaborative and supportive environment, promoting a strong sense of community among students, parents, staff and our parish community.

Key responsibilities:

Be a passionate leader who takes an active role in the Catholic parish of Hastings. Uphold and promote the Josephite charism of the school. Lead the implementation of the school’s strategic vision. Give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, value cultural diversity, and maintain our inclusive Catholic culture across the school. Ensure academic excellence and the holistic development of students. Grow our staff spiritually and professionally.

Requirements:

A commitment to leading Catholic special character whilst also displaying skills in educational leadership. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. A passion for fostering student achievement and wellbeing. 

Willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction appropriate to the special character of the school is a condition of appointment.
